The Loma de Cunagua Wildlife Refuge (RF) is located in the central region of the country, northeast of the province of Ciego de Ávila, in the municipality of Bolivia withinof the Great Wetland that exists in the territory. The area has an extension of 8,228 hectares of land. It limits by the North, West and East with the Great Wetland of the North of Ciego de Ávila and by the South with cane areas of the CPA Martyrs of Bolivia.

On December 14, 2001, the 4262 agreement is taken by the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers, which definitively formalizes the legal status of the Loma de Cunagua protected area as a Wildlife Refuge of local significance.

Associated with it is the largest reserve of natural forests in the territory, in which a great wealth of biodiversity is grouped, mainly from the birdlife, with great representativeness of the national bird, the partridge pigeon and the parrot, elements that make it in a core area of ​​the Ramsar Site Great Wetland of the North of Ciego de Ávila.
