Inauguran Centro de Superación de Cuadros en Universidad de Ciego de Ávila

Making knowledge and science from academia have a greater impact on the development of municipalities is the biggest challenge facing the Center for the Preparation and Improvement of Cadres, which was inaugurated this Tuesday at the Manuel Ascunce Domenech headquarters, from the Máximo Gómez Báez University of Ciego de Ávila (UNICA).

In the words of Dr. C. Antonio Sánchez Sibello, director of said center, this responds to the mission of Higher Education to prepare the cadres of each territory, both from the business system and from the public administration, who will be able to access the different variants of improvement offered by the house of higher studies such as courses, conferences, training, diplomas, master's degrees, and the intention is to also promote doctoral studies.

For this purpose, four classrooms were enabled, with a total capacity for 100 people, whose conditions will favor teaching and preparation, which, as Sánchez Sibello detailed, will start next Monday, with the opening, in its first edition, of the Diploma in Public and Business Administration. It integrates the Public Administration and Business Management diplomas—which will also be opened later for those who have not taken them—and will be updated for graduates of these, with an estimated enrollment of 30 cadres, or reserves of these, coming from different municipalities and institutions.

Likewise, the new center houses the branch of the Havana International Center (CIH), existing at UNICA, and the recently created Interface Company (UCETID S.A.), in which the academy is a shareholder together with the University of Camagüey, and whose fundamental objective is to commercialize scientific-technical services by specialists from both houses of higher studies in the different entities.

According to Dr. C. José Ramón Saborido Loidi, Minister of Higher Education, who participated in the inauguration, UNICA always had a structure that allowed it to fulfill the task of training cadres, but now the conditions have really been created to work better in training the skills needed by managers of local governments and the business system, to successfully carry out their work, so that, with the application of science, innovation and improvement of management tasks, results are obtained that, until today, have not been able to be achieved.

The relevance of the issue was revealed by the head of the branch himself when, when evaluating the fulfillment of the objectives in 2022 by the alma mater, he called to consider the competencies that each municipality requires for its development and to question what advisory system was being organized And what do you have to deal with it?

Thus, he emphasized the need to strengthen, from the university, the Municipal University Centers, for work on improvement actions linked to Management, the Economy and Agriculture, since Ciego de Ávila is an eminently agricultural province and in which 21 companies had losses at the end of last year.

At another time, Saborido Loidi toured the areas of the faculties and the student residence of the central headquarters (with a capacity for 580 scholars and a current enrollment of about 400), where he exchanged with the university students and was interested in the improvements of the conditions of life in the scholarships and the state of wireless connectivity in the institution, since this should favor the search for information.
