The global forecast models, and in particular the GFS, continue to insist that the country will experience a rainy episode starting on Wednesday, June 7, with numerous precipitations in the Central and Eastern regions that could become intense in various locations.

In the case of Ciego de Ávila, the most complex situation is expected for Thursday 8 and Friday 9, which can be extended to a lesser extent until Saturday 10 and Sunday 11.

This was stated in a note signed by specialists from the Provincial Meteorological Center, which calls for staying alert and informed of the meteorological situation.

As it was explained, this circumstance will be related to “a storm in the upper levels of the atmosphere with representation down to the low levels in a similar way and on the surface as a hollow over western Cuba, which on occasions will create a center of low pressures in its breast".

“The winds will be mostly variable and weak, and sometimes they will take a component between the south and the southwest, contributing great humidity, which is generated by the convergence between the right sector of the storm and the anticyclone return of the Atlantic. The situation will contribute to events of constant rain, mainly in central and eastern Cuba."

The experts point out that the rains that have occurred in recent days and the saturation of the soils can constitute a potential danger of flooding in low-lying areas and near rivers.

The Provincial Meteorological Center keeps a close watch on the future evolution of this situation to inform the population and the organizations in a timely manner. If necessary, other warnings will be issued about this rain process.
