    Avileños preseleccionados a San Salvador

A total of 21 athletes from Ciego de Ávila make up the Cuban pre-selections for the Central American and Caribbean Sports Games in San Salvador 2023.

Field hockey, which will hold its tournaments in the sub-venue of the Dominican Republic, is once again the discipline with the most representatives from this territory.

There will be seven hockey players present at the Central Caribbean tournament: the women Yurismailis García (goalkeeper), Tahimí Licea and Geidy Morales, and the men Carlos Manuel Consuegra, Richard Somonte, Geovanny Neninger and Dairon Luis.

The other sport with several applicants is men's softball, which has in its ranks pitcher Alain Román, catcher Reinier Vera and infielders Yuri Rodríguez and Raicel Brocá.

The Grand Master of Chess Luis Ernesto Quesada, the high jumper Kiara Vázquez, the cyclist Randol Izquierdo, the swimmer Maikol Rabí, the judoka Jorge Martínez, the volleyball player Yensy de la Caridad Kindelán, handball player Magnol Suárez and basketball players Rachel Contreras and Pedro Bombino are among the athletes from home who will attend the event in San Salvador.

Yandy Espinosa, from racquetball, another of the disciplines that will be played in Santo Domingo, completes the list.

The Central American Games in San Salvador are scheduled from June 23 to July 8, with the presence of 37 countries and more than 5,000 competitors.
