Despite resource limitations, including parts, pieces and fuel, the Ciego de Ávila railway sector opened a new travel route on weekends from Júcaro, a community with difficult access, to the main cities of the province.

The train journey begins at 7:15 in the morning (am) on Saturday from that coastal settlement, it arrives in the capital of Ciego de Ávila at 8:25 am, to continue five minutes later to the city of Morón, where it reaches the platform at 9:55 a.m.

Tania González Sosa, representative of the Union of Railways in Ciego de Ávila, specified to the Cuban News Agency that on Sunday the return will take place starting at 4:05 past meridian (pm), up to the terminal of the head municipality to 5:25 pm, where it keeps on for five minutes, to continue the march for another hour to Júcaro.

The directive pointed out that the objective is to offer another transportation alternative to travelers, since this place is about 28 kilometers from the provincial city and about 60 from Morón, so it is very difficult for them to get to both places to work, study or make personal arrangements.

That same crew, with a locomotive and railcars, resumes its usual departure from Monday to Friday from there to the main municipality, González Sosa said.

Railways in the territory of Ciego de Ávila manages to keep the Baraguá-Ciego de Ávila, Morón-Ciego de Ávila, Ciego de Ávila-Majagua, Limones Palmero-Ciego de Ávila, and the interprovincial Morón-Esmeralda (Camagüey) trips active, services that, without a doubt, , constitute a relief for those who live in rural areas included in these routes.

González Sosa added that they are working on the recovery of the formation of railcars to restore the Morón-Camagüey route that will work Monday, Wednesday and Friday at its usual schedule.

Road transport is becoming more difficult every day, due to the insufficiency of buses due to lack of parts and fuel, as a consequence of the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States government maintains against Cuba, hence all those alternatives by rail, a sector that does not escape this hostile policy either, are welcome; José Enrique Caraballoso, who often benefits from the Ciego de Ávila-Majagua train, told the Cuban News Agency.
