Tropical Depression Three continued to gain organization and intensity later today and became a Tropical Storm, named Bret.

At 5:00 p.m., its central region was located at 11.3 degrees north latitude and 42.2 degrees west longitude, a position that places it 2,085 kilometers east of the southern group of the Lesser Antilles.

Bret has a central pressure of 1008 hectoPascal and moves west at a rate of 33 kilometers per hour, its maximum sustained winds increased to 65 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts.

Tropical Storm Bret will continue to gain organization and intensity over the next 12 to 24 hours as it moves along a similar course and forward speed over open waters of the central Atlantic Ocean.

The next tropical cyclone warning for this system will be issued at six in the afternoon tomorrow, Tuesday.
