With the aim of reflecting on the matter, and taking action, the II Provincial Workshop on the impact of science on the socioeconomic development of the province took place at the UNICA headquarters, attended by teachers, directors of centers associated with the university, business leaders, CITMA specialists and territorial authorities.

According to Jorge Martínez Melo, a specialist from the Máximo Gómez Báez institutional communication group, the first point of the day was dedicated to present the results of the diagnosis of the university-government-productive sector link for local development in Ciego de Ávila, with the Dr. C. Duniesky Morales Pérez, head of the Local and Territorial Development Group of UNICA in charge of it.

"The lack of training for government structures, few professional human resources linked to local development actions in the municipalities, lack of identification of scientific potential, as well as the non-commercialization of products and services in the interface company of the university and the need to develop a social communication strategy for local development were identified”.
