Avanzan reparaciones en el Hogar de Ancianos de Ciego de Ávila

Nastia Martínez Pérez, head of the Social Work Department of the Provincial Health Directorate, explained that walls and ceilings, which were cracked and chipped, have been repaired in the women's living room and dining room, as well as in the pharmacy, in the physiotherapy area, classrooms and medical consultations.

“The interior parks were renovated and the actions in the kitchen are going well, in addition, they are ambitious because they include veneering and changing all the networks and pipes. This center is very large and there is still a lot to do, but we already see the changes and we appreciate them because they facilitate internal life”.

Keeping with the demands of recent months, the flow within the institution has changed and temporary spaces have been set up to accommodate the elderly while the execution schedule progresses. The matrimonial rooms, the two rooms for men and the one for special care, which will be reached gradually, since they cannot stop providing services are among the pending labors.

The forces of the Community Services (COMCÁVILA), Construction Materials Producer (AVILMAT), Provincial Supply and Education Services (EPASE) and Construction and Assembly (CONAVIL) companies have been linked to the work, which are added to a work experience that seeks the sponsorship of entities of the territory to culminate with quality and in record time works of extreme social sensitivity.

Under this rhythm, we can make an inventory of the results achieved at the Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial General Teaching Hospital, in different Family Doctor and Nurse Offices, and in Maternity Homes, where the maximum use of existing resources has shown that they can bring about positive changes.

With capacity for 130 people, it is supposed that the final point of the repair and maintenance work will allow the number of admissions to increase, a matter of vital importance for a province, where more than 20 percent of its population is over 60 years of age.
