    A few weeks ago, the new elected governor and vice governor of Ciego de Ávila took possession of their positions, which carried out this Saturday the final part of the delivery and reception process of the previous ones, in an official act, as it was stipulated in article 57 of the Presidential Decree 208.

    The outgoing governor Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas handed over his public responsibility to Alfre Menéndez Pérez, while the outgoing vice governor Ania Rosa Francisco Malde did the same with Hiorvanys Espinosa Pérez, who now have the challenge of leading with a view to overcome the challenges that in social and economic development has the province.

    As part of the delivery, emphasis was placed on an updated evaluation of the level of resolution of the proposals, complaints and requests of the population. In addition to the implementation of the new government structure, the territorial development strategy, the situation of the economy for the defense and an assessment of the Civil Defense plans.

    That is why, within the main directions of work, attention must be paid from now on to continue strengthening internal control in the entities of the provincial administration, increasing performance in the economy and food production.

    Likewise, achieving the strengthening of the contracting and price agreement committees, ensuring that agricultural producers and marketers participate. Follow up on the implementation of the Law on Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutrition Security.

    The guidelines also include compliance with housing construction plans and the production of construction materials. In the same way, execute the directives for prevention, confrontation with crime, corruption and social indiscipline.

    This protocol act was chaired by Inés María Chapman Waugh, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Vice Prime Minister of the nation, in the capacity of representative of Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister; Liván Izquierdo Alonso, first secretary of the Party in the province; Miguel Mario Cabrera Castellanos, head of the Directorate of State and Government Cadres; and Colonel Jorge Soto López, president of the commission for delivery and reception of the position.

    The plan for the delivery and reception of the charges was approved by the Prime Minister, and a total of 70 planned activities were carried out.

    At first, the preparation of the cadres on the legislation that regulates the work of the People's Power at its different levels and the new structure in local administrations was carried out.

    Menéndez Pérez and Espinosa Pérez were introduced to the different entities under their subordination, the completeness of cadres and workers, the situation of transportation, communications, and premises.

    Also, as part of the exchange with the incoming cadres, the analysis was carried out on the fulfillment of the objectives, tasks and pending issues; the state of the activities for which they will respond, exposing the main difficulties and projections.

    The Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba called for paying maximum attention to issues related to science, technology and innovation, social communication and the computerization of society, which constitute strategic pillars of government management in the country.

    "In the work system, the street government must prevail, in contact with the people in the search for solutions, in dialogue directly with the population," emphasized Chapman Waugh.

    A special moment in the act was the recognition of the outgoing cadres for their trajectory and performance, in the case of former Governor Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas received the status of Illustrious Son of Ciego de Ávila, while former Vice Governor Ania Rosa Francisco Malde deserved the Provincial Shield distinction.
