Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, praised the popular movement "Embracing the neighborhood", which has been beating in the Ciego de Ávila people for more than a year and constitutes a form of active participation in the attention to the neighborhoods and vulnerable communities.
Expression of this reality was felt by the member of the Political Bureau in the Loma de la Carolina community, belonging to district 53 of the Ceballos popular council, of the main municipality, where he exchanged with the neighbors and was interested in community work and the linkage of the sector state with that community.
In the company of Liván Izquierdo Alonso, a member of the Party's central committee and its first secretary in Ciego de Ávila, together with Alfre Menéndez Pérez, governor at the same level, he appreciated the restoration of various social works, including the baseball stadium, the TRD Caribe point, the winery and the Manuel Parajón Castañeda School.
In the same way, he spoke with the residents about the need to strengthen social discipline, values and integrated community work with the aim of transforming the environment.
There, he spoke with Lorenzo Antonio Martínez, a worker at the Triunfo de la Revolución Cubana Agricultural Cooperative, whose dirt floor was removed by the Provincial Company for Educational Services and Insurance (EPASE), a way in which a socialist state entity habitually participates in solving community problems.
Spontaneously, the neighbors attended the meeting with the political leader, with whom he exchanged opinions and called on them to "do something different every day," since in Cuba there are political, organizational, and governmental structures to transform neighborhoods, always with the popular participation.
After sharing a coffee at the home of Marlene Cabrera García, he went to the baseball field, which had just been remodeled by EPASE itself in the morning. "This is a way to enjoy the summer in a healthy way," he commented after watching a group of children start a ball game.
Morales Ojeda and the delegation that accompanied him visited La Laguna de la Leche aquaculture farm, a reservoir with very low catches in the past, due to the lack of boats and fishing gear and, today, with good productive results and over-compliance with the catch plan per vessel.
"We must find a way for Cuba, an island surrounded by the sea, to have fish and in that endeavor you are part of the advance troop," he told the workers, who earn a salary of more than 15 pesos each month.
In the municipality of Morón itself, he exchanged with Orlando Concepción, director of the D'Morón Teatro group, National Award for Community Culture and highly renowned artistic company in street theater.
Morales Ojeda congratulated them for rescuing a building from the ruins, which with effort turned it into their own stage.
The extensive tour included the La Cuba Company, a giant with 12,400 hectares, with losses last year that amounted to 87 million pesos and currently tends to redeem itself, with discreet profits, due to better actions of the work collectives.
After listening to some of the experiences put into practice to return to the path of efficiency, such as the creation of 30 labor groups and the use of agro-ecology in crops, Morales Ojeda explained the urgent need for the company to get back on its feet.
«La Cuba, a company designed by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, has a national responsibility in the production of food, based on the experiences of its workers and the existing good land. The role of the company is decisive, even, in the reduction of food imports. We need La Cuba to take off, he reflected.
In the Company of Brushes and Plastic Articles Juan Antonio Márquez, Cepil, of Ciego de Ávila, inaugurated by Commander Ernesto Che Guevara on February 13, 1963, highlighted the work of the group, which stands out for being the only ones in the country to produce some assortments, such as toothbrushes, plastic brooms and the line of containers with IML printing, that is, the incorporation of the decorative label embedded in the plastic article, through injection molding known as IML —In mold labeling—; in Spanish «tagged in mold».
The Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba also visited the gerontological center of Ciego de Avila and the Beverage and Softdrink Company.
