The Bureau of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in Ciego de Ávila agreed to grant the municipality of Ciro Redondo the headquarters of the central event of the territory for the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.

Likewise, it gave the category of outstanding to the municipalities of Florencia, Majagua, Chambas, Morón and Ciego de Ávila.

Nexy Véliz Naranjo, member of the Provincial Bureau of the PCC, stressed that the decision was the result of the analysis, with the participation of the highest authorities of the Ciego de Ávila`s PCC and Government, of the main economic, political and social indicators.

Located in the center geography, Ciro Redondo is the seventh largest municipality, having a surface area of 591.58 square kilometers, which represents 9.3 percent of the total area of the province.

With 28,500 inhabitants, the municipality has a determining influence in the economic and productive life, which even exceeds the provincial scale, for which it represents its sugar industry, agriculture and the provincial railway transport companies that provide insurance to the Sugar Industry.

During the last months, its citizens have shown signs of diligence to promote economic programs such as the planting of sugarcane and for the benefit of the community with the repair and completion of social works.

Liván Izquierdo Alonso, member of the Central Committee of the PCC and first secretary in Ciego de Ávila, emphasized that these achievements are the result of the political movement generated as part of the day of decisive effort #LatirXUn26DeVictoria and it has been nucleated in the hashtag #PorCiroRedondoTodo.

He urged each group, in the heat of this occasion, to think about new commitments for the coming stage, which will be aimed at greeting the anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.

Ciro Redondo was precisely the headquarters of the central activities in the province for the 64th anniversary of the triumph on January 1959, which confirms the sustainability of the work in that territory.
