Lifeguards provide security in summer resorts

The training of 41 lifeguards ensures that all the bodies of water, including the beaches of the Jardines del Rey tourist destination, began the summer with lifeguards, an employee of inestimable value, especially in the summer months, when there is a greater influx of population to recreational places.

According to details from Ileana Fuentes Torres, secretary of the Provincial Branch of the Red Cross in Ciego de Ávila, the territory has more than 150 young people dedicated to this work, duly trained to provide first aid and undertake other actions in favor of human lives.

At first, they were located according to the needs of the territory, in rotation through the new bathing areas enabled throughout the geography, with the possibility of working in the Jardines del Rey tourist destination.

Fuentes Torres announced that the Red Cross will continue training aquatic lifeguards for a period of three months and those who wish will have the opportunity to continue their studies as a secondary technician at the José Assef Yara University of Medical Sciences, in Ciego de Ávila.

Reinaldo Gil Álvarez, one of the professors who prepared the new class of lifeguards, explained that the course had a high level of rigor, with fundamental subjects such as aquatic defense, physical preparation, grabs, and rescues.
