    Medical graduates from other nations in Ciego de Ávila

    Graduados médicos de otras naciones en Ciego de Ávila

    Half a hundred young people from the Congo and El Salvador, who completed their studies at the Ciego de Ávila University of Medical Sciences, received their Doctor of Medicine degrees this week and will now return to their countries of origin to put their knowledge into practice.

    In the act of graduation, held at the headquarters of the institution, its general vice-rector, Dr. Alejandro Valdés Torres, recognized the sacrifice and dedication of the graduates during the years of study and ratified the purpose of complying with the ideas of the maximum leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, to contribute to the world with "doctors and not bombs".

    As part of the conclusive activities of the career, the graduates held meetings with the professors, unveiled a plaque with everyone's name; they planted a tree and placed a representative picture of the contribution of the University of Medical Sciences of Ciego de Ávila to professional development, cooperation and training of human resources in the African continent.

    During the graduation day, 17 Basic Nursing Technicians, 8 Graduates in Nursing, 6 in Clinical Bioanalysis, and 15 in Hygiene and Epidemiology also obtained their diplomas. For their comprehensive results in teaching and research, students Dayan Pérez Robledo were recognized, with a gold title, and Adialid Quintana Lannini, Keiler Favier Portales, Eyanis Leyva Medina and Raúl Hernández González were considered outstanding students.
