Restless and serene, as if it were possible to combine both positions, Yoleysis González Rodríguez, makes no objections or obstacles to say that her favorite place is the Prosecutor's Office. And she came to Ciego de Ávila to stay although she is a native of Villa Clara.

When it comes to the Department of Family Protection and Jurisdictional Affairs, which she directs, Yoleysis prefers to speak in the plural, and does so from a pride that is palpable at first glance.

“The Department was constituted only two years ago, although it is the result of the improvement of what was previously the merger of Citizen Services and Family Protection. Today, we are two independent departments, although with the same sense of responsibility and commitment”.

When I was inquiring about the functions of the area that she directs, this woman who celebrates her birthday every March 7, and who has dedicated 20 years to the work of the Prosecutor's Office, the first thing she comments is about the children protection, also covering healthcare centers, mainly the control of legality in these ones. In their daily work, they process complaints related to the vulnerable sector, where a woman is immersed, or an elderly person or a child is involved, for which they require a high degree of sensitivity as a group. From the jurisdictional point of view, they attend to the spheres related to economic matters, conducting criminal reviews, based on the demands. She considers it a comprehensive job but at the same time exciting and dynamic.

"This dynamism is expressed, for example, in the children protection who are infected by Covid-19 or classified as suspects or contacts of positive cases, emphasizing the responsibility of parents, precisely because of the increase in pediatric cases, which experienced the country in this latest regrowth. For us it is not a job that you gave of what we do, but it reinforces it. With our work, the Provincial Defense Council receives feedback and we are satisfied that several cases have been solved”.

She cannot stop talking about what they are doing in tune with the present, when the Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba, based on Indication 572 of the President, related to prioritizing prevention and confronting events that use violence against women and contribute to the criminal response, she has designed a protocol that starts from the information that is periodically provided by the integration of various departments, in which the actions for the eradication of this unfortunate scourge, which has various manifestations, are expressed.

“It is not just about physical violence, perhaps the most widespread. We value and work on cases of psychological, sexual, patrimonial and economic violence, as well as institutional violence, which includes the omission of people in charge of providing public services, and which in turn is something new in our performance".

Yoly, as she is affectionately called in the Provincial Prosecutor's Office, has shinning eyes when people ask her about her family. She clarifies that in Ciego de Ávila, she only has her husband and her two teenagers, with whom she shares a harmonious home, where she has all the support that her working life requires, without neglecting her household duties. This is how she has also become a teacher, so that teleclasses take their rightful place.

But beyond that small nucleus, she is part of a larger one. “You cannot imagine with how much joy I receive every Monday, because it means the return to the Prosecutor's Office. It is not a phrase, nor a slogan. This is a great family, which begins the day by sharing a coffee and sharing every detail, as it is done between brothers or better, between sisters, because here women are the majority”.
