It is a real fact that all people in Cuba went to bed on December 10, wokep up on December 11th and has continued the talk about the issue of wage and price reform.

It is logical that this happens. The measure has a significant impact on all areas of the population even when it was announced or expected. The working sector wonders if they will be able to satisfy their basic needs with the income that they will earn from now on. Those citizens, who do not contribute a single penny and are living without working until the moment, do not know for sure if they will be able to maintain the same status.

I perceive expectation, uncertainty and doubt in a good amount of citizens. But I also notice a lot of clarity and trust in others: not a few.

From my point of view, a decisive and strategic issue is based on what the nation is internally capable of achieving by itself, by virtue of our own efforts, producing goods from our soils and industries, something that I consider has not been happening in its full potential. I hope - and in that I agree with many optimistic people - the new changes in Cuba will lead and encourage us to feel the objective and almost obligatory need to work and contribute.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, President of the National Assembly of People's Power Esteban Lazo Hernández, ministers and senior political and government leaders have emphasized on the illegal raising prices' theme. They have also made clear that those who engage in this practice for personal gain to the detriment of the population and the national economy will be confronted.

So, let's do it. If we all agree that this is a fair, necessary and strategic act, nothing prevents us from putting it into practice, because, furthermore, for this we do not have to buy the will, the reasons, or the organization or demand mechanisms abroad. We have those here, authentic national production values.

Let's look at the world around us, including the pandemic, beyond our maritime and air boundaries, and let's continue to be honest with ourselves. Let us sit down with our children, nephews, grandchildren, let us speak to them with the reason of the truth, with the arguments that it is not necessary to acquire overseas and let us boost the confidence that we have never lacked as a people and that is not an abstract one. If we do, we will see that there is no reason to despair, even if dirty bills and not exactly clean souls work for that and much more.
