Ponderan la vida y la salud de los neonatos prematuros en Ciego de ÁvilaThe premature baby María Caridad Vidal Díaz, with more than 140 days old, is now out of danger, thanks to the dedication and professionalism of the Neonatology team of the Provincial General Teaching Hospital Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola in Ciego de Ávila.

Nairelys Díaz Dávila, mother of the seven-month-old baby, perceives the team in this health room as her own family due to the sleepless nights with her daughter María Caridad, who at birth weighed 1 150 grams, and lost almost less than a pound, specifically 800 grams.

None gave up although the neonatal clinical picture implied serious risks, which is why all the protocols were applied, including the effective treatment of retinopathy of prematurity, argues Dr. Ladisbel Rodríguez Placeres, Head of Neonatology at the Hospital  Antonio Luaces Iraola.

The Ciego de Ávila’s baby María Caridad has been, without a doubt, Nairelys Díaz Dávila's best treasure during 2020, a seven-month-old baby who, thanks to the benefits of revolutionary health system, guarantees, like many newborns, her right to life in Cuba.
