Instan en Ciego de Ávila a fortalecer enfrentamiento al coronavirus y las arbovirosis

In a context marked by the increase in the number of travelers from abroad, the flow of people inside the country and family festivities at the end and beginning of the year, the Party and Government authorities in the province of Ciego de Ávila called to strengthen studies of the population at risk to prevent the proliferation of communicable diseases, such as COVID-19 and dengue.

As it was indicated in the Working Meeting of the Temporary Group to Confront COVID-19, enquiries in work centers, educational and health institutions should be a priority, anticipating possible contacts of workers and students with people infected by SARS -CoV-2, during the family reunions that just happened.

Besides, it is necessary to strengthen surveillance in the tourism industry because of the appreciable increase in the number of tourists infected with the pandemic and the resumption of the daily transfers of workers to and from hotel facilities.

On Sunday, seven cases were registered (six imported cases and one autochthonous case), the majority asymptomatic patients (87%) and distributed in nine of the 10 municipalities of the province. 20 contacts were identified and processed. Since the fresh outbreak to date, the territory accumulates 910 infected ones.

Carlos Luis Garrido Pérez, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party in the Ciego de Ávila’s territory, emphasized that an increase in the contagion figures is forecast in the coming weeks, so it is urgent to take extreme health measures for the new normality.

“We cannot fall into a routine or overconfidence. Let us remember that the best medicine is social responsibility, the use of means of protection, compliance with disinfection protocols, and the energetic and timely confrontation of those who try to assume behaviors that put the health of others at risk ", said the member of the Central Committee of the Party.
