    Relación calidad-precio centra el debate

“We cannot seek efficiency with the increase in prices alone; it is imperative to achieve it by saving and controlling resources, growing production and generating quality offers and services for the benefit of the people, ” Carlos Luis Garrido Pérez, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party in Ciego de Ávila said.

This was revealed in a meeting held to evaluate the impact of the Ordering Task, where some issues were debated such as the main concerns of the population about the rise in food prices and transportation, the lack of correspondence between the cost and the quality of the regulated bread, the cessation of regulated sales in the foreign exchange collection stores, the limitations for payment in convertible pesos in commercial establishments and service centers, and the prices of the Family Attention System.

In response to the controversy generated by the bread, Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, Governor of the province of Ciego de Ávila, pointed out that greater control is required by cadres and executives, taking into account that quality does not always depend on good condition of raw materials. Sometimes, entities that work with the same resources achieve different elaborations, which leads to think that the human factor is decisive in the production process.

The highest representative of the Government in the province emphasized that “the increase in prices must correspond to the improvement of the image, the expansion of offers and the quality of services in establishments, both in the state and non-state sectors, so that greater customer satisfaction is achieved and competitiveness is favored between the different forms of management conceived in the Cuban economic model. For this it is necessary to join forces ”.

The political will to channel the Ordering Task is expressed in actions developed during the first days of its implementation, which include price agreements with self-employed workers, monitoring of the main opinions, and evaluation of concerns associated with Cubataxis rates, funeral freight and suburban bus services. Likewise, the costs of pizzas, yogurt, ice cream and the offers of the Family Attention System are reviewed.

Garrido Pérez specified in his effort to convey trust to the population about the actions that are being carried out as part of the updating of the Cuban economic model, that it is too early to have a final conclusion on the impact of the Task. “This is not a rigid process, prices are not static and can undergo transformations. What we cannot do is stop working to achieve success, or assume positions of accommodation and conformity ”.

Martín Venegas concluded that price control must continue to be a battle that is waged through working with the rules, as well as systematic monitoring and evaluations.
