Adoptarán medidas restrictivas en Ciego de Ávila ante incremento de la Covid-19

Restrictive and alternative measures should be applied immediately in the province of Ciego de Ávila in order to control the concentrations of people in public spaces such as shopping and gastronomy centers, stores, banks, pharmacies and others due to figures indicating a decline from the new normality.

On Friday, it was revealed at the Meeting of the Temporary Working Group to Confront Covid 19, a disease that shows a re-outbreak in the territory of Ciego de Ávila, with 51 confirmed cases (17 autochthonous and 34 imported ones) in recent days.

At the end of this Thursday, nine positive cases were reported (five native and four imported ones) from the municipalities of Baraguá, Ciego de Ávila, Ciro Redondo and Morón. 79% were asymptomatic patients and, in three people it was diagnosed, the source of infection could not be specified. 31 outbreaks remain active, including one in Majagua, municipality that raises the greatest concern by registering 3 confirmed patients.

Morón, Majagua and the main territory present the most critical condition although all the municipalities are affected, in a situation that demands more agility in carrying out investigations and actions to increase the risk perception of the population.

The reinforcement of hygienic-sanitary measures in educational and health institutions, as well as in the mass transportation of passengers, constitutes another priority in the current circumstances.

Carlos Luis Garrido Pérez, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party in the territory, warned about the need to apply quarantines in the required places, in order to minimize the risks of transmission.

"The health authorities must establish the relevant coordination with the agencies involved in securing places with entry and exit restrictions, including the forces of internal order, and the provincial and municipal directorates of Commerce and Gastronomy, so that it is guaranteed appropriate conditions for the well-being of those who are in this state ”, specified the political leader.

At another point in his speech, the member of the Party's Central Committee asked to assess the relevance of keeping open state and non-state facilities such as bars, restaurants and swimming pools. The projection, in the current circumstances, should be aimed at closing 50% of these centers, in order to reduce the risks of contagion and spread of the disease.

In the case of the non-state sector, the temporary closure processes must be duly organized, so that the ONAT is notified for the suspension of contributions during the period of interruption of services.

The Territorial Management of Caribe Stores reported on their experiences in the distribution of tickets to avoid long queues and facilitate organized access of the population to purchases.

The health system had more than 300 beds in rooms set up for the care of suspected and confirmed patients in the province of Ciego de Ávila.

Since the beginning of the pandemic to date, the territory accumulates 922 confirmed cases, 89.5% diagnosed patients in the period between August 2020 and the course of January 2021.
