Autoridades de Ciego de Ávila reconocen aportes de industria de Villa Clara

The contributions in the fight against Covid-19 of the workers of the modern Chlorine Sosa factory, belonging to the Electrochemical Company of Sagua la Grande, were recognized by authorities of this province, that received a stable supply of hypochlorite in a 10 % level since the beginning of the pandemic.

Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, vice president of the Defense Council in the territory, acknowledged that, since the appearance in Cuba of the first imported cases of the coronavirus, in mid-March 2019, the Villa Clara's industry “has maintained stability in shipments, both in the first outbreak, as in the second and third ones, with high volumes of the product.

According to Jorge Félix Entenza Echarte, director of the Provincial Company of Various Productions, the Electroquímica de Sagua sent some 332,000 liters to the territory only last year, distributed in the 85 existing sales points in the 10 municipalities of Ciego de Ávila.

Likewise, this allowed the Empresa de Producciones Varias to sell bleach and manufacture for the sale of sodium hypochlorite at 1% and 0.05% for the disinfection of facades and points of transportation.

Entenza Echarte said that transportation from the Sagua la Grande factory to the province occurs once a month and is carried out by the cargo bases of the municipalities of Ciego de Ávila, Florencia, Chambas, Primero de Enero and Ciro Redondo and, to a lesser extent, they are assumed by the Chlorine Sosa factory itself with its specialized transport.

The Villa Clara's factory, subjected to an extensive process of technological reconversion that lasted for almost five years, produces and guarantees to all provinces the stable supply of sodium hypochlorite and bleach, two vital products to ensure the hygiene of hands and surfaces, a fundamental measure to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 to people.
