With the invitation of the rector of the Máximo Gómez Báez University to not give up, commit themselves and propose to fulfill their dreams as future professionals, more than 500 young people in Ciego de Ávila began the enrollment process at the house of higher studies in the modalities of day course and short cycle.

In an organized way and ruled by a schedule that has been disclosed by the territory's media, around 37 careers are available from this March 15 to incorporate first-year students. Dr. Yurisbel Gallardo Ballat, rector of UNICA, explained that everything has been organized so that enrollment flows as quickly and safely from a hygienic and sanitary point of view, while conditions have also been created to ensure, later, teaching activities, in an attendance, semi-attendance or distance form, depending on how the situation around Covid-19 behaves.

One of the used alternatives consists precisely in carrying out the enrollment process at the Manuel Ascunce Domenech campus, in the provincial capital and at the university campus of the other municipalities.

Nereida Pérez Sánchez, teaching vice-rector, explained that despite Covid-19, the number of young people who will start university studies in Ciego de Ávila is higher than in previous years. In this sense, she pointed out that the process had new peculiarities and benefits, which allowed all young people who wanted to study to access a way to do so, in addition to the results obtained in the entry tests.

As a timely and necessary modality, both directors referred to the Short Cycle, which will contribute to the training of the higher technician that is needed for the development of companies and with this, the contribution to the integral economic advance of the province.

The Ciego de Ávila´s University, welcomes an enrollment that amounts to 10,000 students, which includes pre and postgraduate training, the latter without stopping.

For those who are entering higher education for the first time, the teaching staff and the study material are prepared, especially in the field of new technologies, so that students can access content that will gradually increase in complexity, according to the characteristics of each subject.
