The first secretary of the Party is one of the most visible faces of the province. In Carlos Garrido Pérez's work schedule, there is no time for rest, a principle that applies even to Sundays, when he is usually seen in cane fields and sugar mills, especially now, that the harvest in the territory does not walk on sweet roads.

He marks in red the dissatisfactions to be resolved and the challenges to be overcome at a time when it becomes more imperative to tear down every obstacle that prevents the improvement of the Economic Model that Cuba is building on the road to a prosperous and sustainable socialism.

This principle encourages him in each awakening and that is why he assures that the next Congress of Cuban communists will give continuity to the work that the majority of Cubans defend and will set guidelines in what has to do with the economic and social development of the country, in the middle of complex and difficult conditions, the intensification of the US blockade against Cuba, a higher escalation in recent years.

«In this last stage, COVID-19 has caused serious epidemiological, health and economic damage in Cuba. The delegates to the event will also discuss these issues.

«We consider that the elements to be evaluated, together with the issues of the economy, those that have to do with the Politics of cadres and the internal functioning of the Party organization.

«It is up to current and future generations to make an exhaustive balance and a deep evaluation of these documents that allow us to draw guidelines and programmatic lines for the future that we all aspire to: a more prosperous, more sustainable socialism, as it has also been and is the purpose of the highest direction of the country.

«It will be a historic congress that will set the tone for the future work of our nation and the main issues, which we will be discussing from the very essence that has to do with humanism, development and the fighting capacity that the people have always shown around their Revolution and their Party.
