Avanza comercialización de productos agrícolas en Ciego de Ávila

The new marketing policy and potato deliveries made possible to discreetly exceed the per capita sales of agricultural products in the month of March, accounting for 33.9 pounds of the 30 planned, in the province of Ciego de Ávila.

In meeting this goal, set out in the Food Sovereignty and Nutrition Education Program, the leasing of state agricultural markets (MAE by its Spanish initials) to private producers and Credit and Services Cooperatives (CCS by its Spanish initials) had a positive impact, Antonio Conde Pérez, specialist of the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG by its Spanish initials) highlighted.

“A pioneer in the new forms of administration of the MAE, the territory of Ciego de Ávila achieves favorable results for producers and consumers, with a greater presence of viands, fruits, vegetables and grains that favor a balanced diet, which reaffirms the validity of the decision adopted by the country to commercialize agricultural products”, Conde Pérez said.

Two markets, located in the municipalities of Ciego de Ávila and Morón, are betting on the availability of a manager and a truck to achieve sustainability in the supply, "a modality that also demonstrates effectiveness," the MINAG official said.

With the recent lease of five MAE, in the context of the celebrations for the 8th. Party Congress, the municipality of Morón exhibits progress in the new policy of commercialization of agricultural products, with 10 of its 23 markets covered by the new form of management.

Yaneisy Barreda Reyes, client of MAE No.12 La Lima, from the municipality of Morón, appreciates the difference in the supply of that entity, leased for a month to the CCS Máximo Gómez: “It is better now, almost always stocked, with varieties of offers and good quality”.

Yordanka Guevara Torres, a client from the market itself, highlighted the quality of the service, the regularity in the supply and the correspondence between the quality and the prices of the products.

Juan José Heras Rivero, director of the UEB Acopio Morón, stressed the existence of the MercaMóvil (cart pulled by a tractor) and the BiciAgro (pedicab), enabled to carry out sales in the city and its surroundings, in order to bring closer products to consumers.

During a tour for the province, Reina Torres Pérez, member of the Agri-Food Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), confirmed the willingness of the different economic actors to increase production, eliminate obstacles and implement policies that benefit producers and consumers, in line with the call of the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

"The territory of Ciego de Ávila exhibits progress in the production and commercialization of food, based on the implementation of the Economic-Social Strategy to boost the economy and the confrontation with the global crisis caused by Covid-19, the also deputy to the ANPP said.
