"We have two supreme commitments: to do more and better things done so far, and to be loyal to the legacy of the historical generation", these were the words of Governor Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas in front of the workers of the provincial headquarters of the Government of Popular Power in Ciego de Ávila, after his participation as a delegate to the 8th Congress of the PCC.

 Considered as the Congress of Continuity, the great appointment of the political vanguard of Cuban society, it is not only because the founding generation of the PCC transferred the main responsibilities to the new generations of communists, but because the essence of preserving and defending Socialism, as a just, equitable and humanistic system, in addition to the adversities, obstacles and threats of the most powerful empire in the world and its lackeys.

Martín Venegas attested to this, sharing with his collective the experiences and emotions that were generated from April 16 to 19. “The Congress started much earlier. Congress was doing it together, from our jobs, facing Covid-19, implementing the Ordering Task, prioritizing food production, improving our work system in a general sense, but it is not enough. With the analyzes carried out, with the indications received and with the conviction that we cannot fail, we are responsible for materializing the adopted agreements and we have a lot to do".

“It is inevitable to talk about Raúl. Not only because of what was said about his figure, but because of everything he transmitted during those days. After the masterful presentation of the Central Report, he was talking with us for another hour. How much clarity and how much confidence in the new generation! And other makers of this work called Revolution were next to him, several of them founders of the Cuban Communist Party that was constituted in 1965, the same one that maintains the Unity as a principle, which will safeguard what the people have achieved”, he, also Vice President of the Provincial Defense Council, stressed with emotion.

Without a doubt, the life of the nation has been marked in a crucial way, after the celebration of the party meeting. Once again the pandemic put the capacity and determination of the Cubans and the Revolution to the test, and once again it was shown that no one surrenders here! And how we learned from the best, if we have gotten something good from living perennially besieged and attacked, it is our talent for resistance and the extraordinary courage to face together the longest blockade in history, hurricanes and tornadoes, epidemics, to with that same talent and courage, face and defeat the mercenaries and the deficiencies that they impose to us, because that does have to be clear to friends and enemies: the greatest greatness of this island is in its people.

Revolution exists above mercenaries and shortages, because its greatest wealth is neither sold nor can it be stolen, the wealth of this country is its people.
