“We are obliged to change the way of thinking, acting and conducting ourselves to advise and accompany, in the correct way, the directions of the territorial governments in the implementation of the development strategy to boost the economy and face the global crisis caused by COVID -19."

This was specified by Ileana Venegas Acosta, deputy, member of the Economic Affairs Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP by its Spanish initials) and Director of Economy and Planning in the province of Ciego de Ávila; during an exchange with her subordinates in the municipality of Morón.

The leader emphasized that the current circumstances require greater knowledge of the regulatory base to plan, conduct and control economic development, in correspondence with the priorities outlined by the country, which requires creating self-preparation mechanisms that contribute to more efficient management.

The Provincial Directorate of Economy and Planning trains its professionals to update them on the transformations and promote territorial planning as an essential element to achieve municipal autonomy.

Venegas Acosta highlighted the importance of planning to channel investment processes and local development, through an adequate allocation of resources and financing.

According to her, Morón has the potential to promote projects that contribute to the national economy and guarantee financial independence, so that it is not necessary to use the funds of the province for municipal progress.

"Projects and agreements for local development cannot constitute a dead letter, they must be a working tool for decision-making in order to ensure development, taking into account that they define the responsibilities and contribution to the economy of the territory," the parliamentary member stressed.
