Cuba decreta la fase de transmisión comunitaria de Covid-19

The Temporary Working Group for the prevention and control of the new coronavirus, headed by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, approved this Tuesday a new Plan to confront COVID-19 in Cuba, taking into account the complex epidemiological situation in the nation, characterized by high levels of transmission of the disease.

The Minister of Public Health, José Angel Portal Miranda, reported the decision to state all the provinces in the community transmission phase of the epidemic phase due to this new reality is characterized by an ascending behavior of positive cases that are diagnosed daily and the circulation of several highly contagious virus strains.

In accordance with this scenario, the member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, pointed out that the new Plan is designed only for this particular situation.

He valued that this Plan has to become the necessary guide in the territories, due to the experience that is gathered in it from the work carried out by scientists, experts, the highest Health authorities and the Government, during all this time of confrontation with the new coronavirus.

At the same time, what is applied has to resemble the provinces, municipalities, localities, and that it corresponds to the characteristics of each place. "This battle is won in the municipality," he reflected.

Similarly, the Prime Minister announced the decision to send temporary work commissions to the most complex provinces: Matanzas, Ciego de Ávila, Camagüey, Santiago de Cuba, Pinar del Río and Mayabeque. A similar follow-up has been carried out for a few days in Havana.

These teams, which will be chaired by the highest authorities of the Party and the Government, and made up of representatives of various ministries and other structures in the country, will not replace the work of the province's leadership, Marrero Cruz assured. "They have clear instructions to support, lead and guide major issues in those territories."
