    During this morning, Hurricane Elsa has continued to weaken slightly and is now a tropical storm again. It has maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts and a central pressure of 999 hectoPascal.

    Elsa has continued moving in a near west northwest course, although its speed has decreased slightly to 46 kilometers per hour.

    At noon its center was estimated at 17.2 degrees North latitude and 72.0 degrees West longitude, a position that places it about 80 kilometers southwest of Cabo Beata, Dominican Republic and about 515 kilometers east of Kingston, Jamaica.

    In the next 12 to 24 hours, the hurricane will continue with a similar course, turning northwest on Sunday and gradually decreasing its speed of translation, with slight fluctuations in its intensity, to continue moving during the afternoon today through the seas in the south part of La Española , approaching the extreme southwest of Haiti since the afternoon, and entering the Strait of Colon since midnight today.

    Due to the proximity of tropical storm Elsa, starting today the areas of drizzles and rains will begin to increase over the southern eastern provinces, related to the external circulation bands of this system; rains that can be strong and intense in some locations, mainly mountainous.

    Starting at dawn, the intensity of the wind and the height of the waves will begin to increase on the southern coast of the eastern region of Cuba. The winds will have speeds between 30 and 45 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts that will reach tropical storm force of up to 65 kilometers per hour. There will be swells from Cabo Cruz to Punta de Maisí increasing to strong swells from early morning with light to moderate coastal flooding. The next tropical cyclone warning will be issued at six in the afternoon on Saturday.
