During this afternoon, Tropical Storm Elsa has remained with little change in organization and intensity, although in the last hours the clouds around the center have increased.  This system has maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour and higher gusts.  The central pressure has risen slightly to 1000 hectoPascal.

Elsa continues to move toward the near west northwest and has slightly slowed its translation speed to 44 kilometers per hour.

At six in the afternoon its center was estimated at 17.6 degrees North latitude and 74.3 degrees of West longitude, a position that places it about 265 kilometers east of Kingston, Jamaica and about 435 kilometers southeast of Cabo Cruz, Granma.

In the next 12 to 24 hours, Tropical Storm Elsa will continue with a similar course, passing over the seas in the south of Haiti and entering the Strait of Colón.  On Sunday, it will be on or very close to Granma and the seas of the south of Las Tunas, Camagüey and the provinces of the central region of Cuba.  In addition, its translation speed will gradually decrease, with slight fluctuations in its intensity.

The bands of cloudy, with drizzles and rains, associated with the external circulation of Tropical Storm Elsa, will begin to influence Guantánamo and Santiago de Cuba from tonight.  During the next morning, the rains will spread to the rest of the provinces of the eastern region and can be strong and intense in some locations, mainly in the Granma province and mountainous areas and the southern coast of Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo.

From the next morning, the intensity of the wind and the height of the waves will begin to increase near the southern eastern portion of Cuba.  The winds will blow with speeds between 30 and 45 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts that will reach tropical storm force of up to 65 kilometers per hour.  There will be strong swells from Cabo Cruz to Punta de Maisí, with waves between 4 and 6 meters high and light to moderate coastal flooding, mainly in Santiago de Cuba and Granma.  From the end of the morning, the light floods will move to the Gulf of Guacanayabo and later, from the afternoon, to the south coast of the central region of Cuba.

The next tropical cyclone warning will be issued at midnight.
