Llegan primeros vuelos a Jardines del Rey desde Canadá

After a wait that lasted since last February due to COVID-19, workers at Jardines del Rey airport received, with joy, tourists from Canada, a fact that marks the resumption of recreational operations towards that destination, one of the most promising in the Caribbean.

As confirmed at the end of June, the airline resumed flights to the tourist poles of Cuba: Jardines del Rey and Varadero.

Mario Hernández Rivero, director of the Ciego de Ávila`s airport unit, told Granma that after 12:00 this Saturday afternoon the Airbus A 321, from Toronto, landed with more than 120 passengers on board and hours later another did from Montreal, with just over 130 people, including a number of residents in the Greater Antilles.

According to the source itself, initially, Air Canada will land with two frequencies every Saturday; one from Toronto, arriving at 12:25 and the other from Montreal, arriving at 5:40 in the afternoon.

Airlines increase options with the reduction of travel restrictions for travelers from the northern country vaccinated against COVID-19, TravelWeek said.

At the beginning of November last year, the Jardines del Rey international air terminal became the first in Cuba to open its doors to Russian tourism, when the Nordwind, Royal Fligths and Aigle Azur airlines began operations from the Euro-Asian country.

Given the implementation of the new measures for travelers, the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba published the health protocols for those who arrive to the national territory through organized and individual tourism.
