Trabajo comunitario integrado puede devenir en antídoto contra el alza de la Covid-19 en Ciego de Ávila

To improve the work in the community, better manage of the pandemic from the organizational point of view, reduce mobility and achieve greater discipline of the population, Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, made a call in the province.

This is part of the work of a temporary work commission appointed by the central government, with the approval of Miguel Díaz-Canel, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, with the main objective of accompanying the authorities of the territory in the fight against Covid-19 and, at the same time, contribute to the implementation of stricter measures in the community transmission phase, which Ciego de Ávila is going through.

"We are working together with all factors to identify suspected cases of Covid as quickly as possible, prioritize the most vulnerable to avoid loss of human life and that the disease continues to spread,"  Perdomo Di-Lella, at a meeting chaired also by Félix Duarte Ortega, member of the Secretariat and head of the Department of Industry, Construction, Tourism, Transportation and Services in the Central Committee of the Party and authorities of the province and the health sector, said.

When making an assessment of the integral work, he said that today more than 800 people positive for the disease remain at home and in view of this reality he insisted on the need to start treatment - mainly with Nasalferón - in their own homes. "The objective is to shorten the time in the administration of medicines so that patients do not get complicated, as one of the ways to reverse the situation that the territory is going through," he commented.

The intervention with the aforementioned drug was part, in September of last year, of the protocol left in this territory by the scientific group sent by the highest management of the country, administered prophylactically to workers and medical personnel of the Provincial Hospital Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola.

He explained that to cut the chain of contagion it is necessary to improve work in the community, the popular council, the district and the home, because they have a mode of action where the family must be involved, with extreme precautionary measures.

"In a family where there is a suspect one, he said, it is necessary to use the face mask, in that way, the contacts of the suspects who do not have symptoms are adequately protected and that must be achieved with community work."

Currently, the stay in isolation centers awaiting a PCR result today exceeds five days, when it is not supposed to exceed 48 hours for two reasons: the need to release capacities and to administer medications promptly to avoid accelerated transits towards gravity.

Duarte Ortega emphasized the need to act faster than the disease, to be proactive, strict and operative in complying with the indications and to achieve a decrease in mobility, with the beginning of the application, this Wednesday, of drastic measures to the drivers who circulate without authorization.
