Covid-19: there is still a battle to take in Morón

A decongested hospital and numbers that after the hundreds of July no longer scare, it may be the illusions that make you think that Morón has controlled the pandemic.

It is evident that the sickness rate is much lower and that admission is guaranteed for everyone, but the interval must be used to evaluate the weaknesses of the system, now that it is not in crisis.

With that purpose, this Thursday, the Provincial Health Directorate completed this week a comprehensive control. Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party; Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba; Governor Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, and the main political and governmental authorities of the territory, checked the activity.

The analysis began with the nucleus of anti-COVID-19 medical care: the Roberto Rodríguez Provincial Hospital, where resources and donations have arrived that already make modest differences in the rooms, the protection of the staff, and even the food. Lack of discipline and hygiene are now the main signs, especially after night visits to the red area.

Inside the doors, the institution sets goals abandoned years ago, such as installing 22 solar heaters after five years in the warehouse, or connecting the cistern to the water supply system, which creates difficulties every time the public service is affected.

According to Niuris Martín, deputy director of medical care, 390 patients are admitted, of them 89 children, 12 pregnant women and 16 puerperal females. Of the 36 admitted ones to the care services for critically ill patients, there are three in neonatology, three pediatric cases and three maternal, figures that already draw delicate trends.

Hospital out, there are other aspects to consider. Norman Gutiérrez Villa, director of Epidemiology, warns about the dengue epidemic, which affects neighborhoods of the Popular Council Patria, the Carrazana district and the Plan Hortícola settlement, in general associated with areas without plating and garbage micro-dumps.

From a tour of the 59 clinics that make up the North and South Health areas, problems related to the health systems of these primary care centers were raised, and opinions were repeated among citizens and medical personnel.

Morón`s citizens complain of the malfunction of the messaging system to pharmacies, of the ineffective or insufficient research, at the same time that epidemiological surveys are found with few contacts, or newborns that have not been captured for pediatric care.

For health personnel, concerns range from the unavailability of documents and pens to the low perception of risk and the mobility of people that keeps them "fatigued."

3,553 CRP were analyzed during the week, according to the account of Norman Gutiérrez Villa, a total that includes positives and immediate contacts. The path is not only to cover primary care so that the pandemic does not slip through the cracks of neglect, but also to expand the population to be studied, so that the numbers are safe and not possible hallucinations.
