Ciego de Ávila gradúa a nuevos galenos

Aware of their role in pandemic circumstances, 303 students of Medical Sciences in Ciego de Ávila received the title that accredits them as Doctors of Medicine, after six years of study, trainings and confrontation with COVID-19.

They join 28 other colleagues from friendly countries who have already returned, for the most part, to their nations of origin, with similar qualifications and the pride of accomplished duty in the midst of a health contingency.

The 41st graduation of Ciego de Ávila`s university education center was celebrated in the Mayor General Máximo Gómez Báez`s Revolution Square. It happens a few days after the 61st anniversary of the founding of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, and it was dedicated, this time, to the Health Heroes and the Youth for Life, after the arduous work in recent months both inside and outside of Cuba.

In the event, the Gold titles were awarded to the integral students in the spheres of Teaching, Culture, Research, Sports and Vertical Internship, as well as those who obtained the Prize for Scientific Merit and the members of the avant-garde movement Mario Muñoz Monroy.

Although a first goal within the career has just been achieved by the already doctor Luis Miguel Hernández de Oro, one of the best graduates, now his dream is to start the specialty in Comprehensive General Medicine as soon as possible and, at the same time, continue with the human task to save lives on the scene that is required.

The young Karely Díaz Pérez, winner of the Scientific Merit Award and Gold Title with an academic index of five points, spoke in the plural on behalf of her colleagues to highlight the honorable way in which they arrived to this day without stopping the work with the aim of achieving the control of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the province.

The new doctors also received congratulations from the main political and governmental authorities of the territory, led by Carlos Luis Garrido Pérez, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Cuban Communist Party.

In the coming weeks, other professionals in the specialties of Stomatology, Nursing and Health Technologies will graduate from the University of Medical Sciences in Ciego de Ávila, from its two head office, in ceremonies in accordance with the epidemiological situation.
