Ciego de Ávila por donaciones voluntarias de sangre

Workers from all unions in Ciego de Ávila multiply blood donations on a voluntary basis to increase the availability of the vital liquid in health institutions, as part of a day called Contribute your drop to save lives.

Martha Méndez Mellor, director of the Blood Bank in the capital city, highlighted in her profile of the social network Facebook, that the first people to attend were the civil defense workers, in tribute to the 50th anniversary of that force, founded on 19 September.

She specified that the initiative convened by the Cuban Central of Workers (CTC) in the territory, salutes the 61st anniversary of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution and will last until November, when the Working Safety and Health Conference will take place.

Niurka Ferrer Castillo, Secretary General of the CTC in Ciego de Avila, and Sileysi Reinoso Acosta, Coordinator of the Blood Donor Program in the main municipality, attended the health center, near the Antonio Luaces Iraola hospital, to exchange with those who extend their arm in solidarity to save lives.

Mariela Burgos Márquez, member of the Secretariat of the CTC in the territory, through the social network itself, described the action as “a gesture of total altruism, sensitivity and humanism, which once again tests the capacity for mobilization and humanity and humility of the Cuban and Ciego de Ávila Trade Union Movement in particular”.

Donations will be made in the blood banks of all municipalities and are added to other activities of the labor movement, such as the recertification of ready and safe work centers for compliance with health protocols against the COVID-19 pandemic and the Preventive measures in the vector control against the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
