Under strict health protocols to avoid possible infections with COVID-19, the pre-selections (m) of the two fighting styles train in this province, a sport that is preparing to do a good job in the First Junior Pan American Games Cali-Valle 2021, which will be held in Colombia from November 25 to December 5.

The 28 athletes (16 in freestyle and 12 in Greco-Roman one) are preparing at the José Rodríguez Dapía provincial judo academy, under the tutelage of the coaching staff of that sport, which predicts to achieve three gold medals in free practice and two in the classical style.

The world multi-medalist José Mario Olivera, coach of the Cuban national pre-selection of Greco-Roman wrestling, told Granma that the preparation is going well, according to plan. They will arrive in Colombia with a full team, after the six divisions they won that right in the Youth Pan-American Wrestling Championship based in Oaxtepec, Mexico, where Jeisser Sampson (130 kilograms), from Ciego de Ávila, was the only one who was titled and deserved the Golden Boot of the Greco-Roman tournament, a prize awarded to the most valuable athlete.

Andy Moreno González, in charge of the preparation in freestyle, revealed that the forecast is to achieve medals in all divisions, including two golden ones, which they intend to obtain with Osmany Diversen from Havana (57 kg) and Arturo Siló from Santiago (97 kg), both, occupiers of the first place in Oaxtepec.
