Atrasos en terreno sintético de Ciego de Ávila frena el desarrollo del hockey en Cuba

INDER authorities check the work, whose investment process is long overdue

The investment process for the construction of the synthetic hockey field, adjacent to the Giraldo Córdova Cardín sports hall, in the capital city, has been full of setbacks, immobility, justifications and dates of unfulfilled deliveries.

In September 2017, the components arrived, donated by the International Federation of the discipline and the delays caused the expiration of a part of the chemical elements: adhesives, resins for the buffer layer, and effects on the quality of the grass are not ruled out, that was several years out in the open.

Raúl Fornés Valenciano, first vice president of INDER, and Omar Venegas Echemendía, vice president of the organization, knew about all these incidents during a check-up visit to the work.

"Delivery times cannot continue to be extended, as it slows down the development of discipline in Ciego de Ávila and in the country," Fornés told authorities of the Cuban Communist Party, the Government, sports and builders present at the work, scheduled to be delivered in November next.

Venegas Echemendía urged to speed up the completion, because "we cannot afford to fail in an irresponsible way to comply with the schedule, as has happened repeatedly."

In addition to delays, the incorrect investment process caused excess expenditures of resources such as rocky sand and Hot Asphalt Concrete, in addition to cracking, loss of compaction, unevenness and subsidence.

This synthetic terrain will be added to another existing one at the Antonio Maceo National Field Hockey School, located in Santiago de las Vegas, in the province of Havana.
