Grupo de Trabajo Temporal evalúa acciones anti-COVID-19

The Temporary Working Group is currently focusing on the debates associated with the vaccination process as a guarantee of epidemiological stability in order to confront COVID-19 and decision-making in relation to the socioeconomic development of Ciego de Ávila.

Today, Carlos Luis Garrido Pérez and Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party and governor of the territory, were informed that all the municipalities of the Ciego de Ávila`s geography present a cumulative incidence rate in the last 15 days less than 1,000 per 100,000 inhabitants. It is an indicator that has not been achieved for some months.

Even so, Florencia, Chambas, Bolivia, Primero de Enero, Majagua and Baraguá remain in the high-risk category, which must continue to monitor all cases with symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 and dengue, another epidemic for which they begin to sound the alarms.

Dr. Yipsy González Borroto, head of the expanded immunization program in the province, announced that, in the anti-COVID-19 vaccination for pediatric ages, 233 adolescents from group one (terminal years of High School) are pending to receive, for different reasons, the third dose of Abdala.

In this sense, Martín Venegas demanded greater control over these numbers, and said that it is the responsibility of each municipal director of Health that these young people do not miss the cycle after not showing up for the vaccinations on the corresponding days for dissimilar causes.

The Governor of Ciego de Ávila also asked for answers about the excessive imbalance in terms of carrying out PCR samples by municipalities, since they range between 10 and 400, a factor that can influence the lack of control of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

On this matter, Dr. Eduardo Artiles Pardo, deputy director of the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, explained that to this it must be added the 1,800 PCR that are in the Molecular Biology Laboratory, in Morón, waiting to be processed, which can affect their contamination.

The Temporary Working Group also revealed the gradual closure of some isolation centers, especially those that correspond to camping facilities and motels, without neglecting the numbers in areas where control is still not appreciated and flexibility measures are not approved.

The call was extensive for everyone to fulfill his or her duty, since it will depend on everybody that the nightmare of COVID-19 is only part of the past of a province that gradually returns to a normality that, we hope, is definitive.
