Jardines del Rey se ratificará como destino turístico seguro

The workers of the leisure industry in the province of Ciego de Ávila will undertake the upcoming high tourist season with the commitment to ratify the safety of the Jardines del Rey destination, through strict compliance with hygienic-sanitary measures to face COVID-19.

The facilities update the health protocols, whose effectiveness is evaluated by specialists from the Ministries of Public Health and Tourism, during the requalification process that endorses the category of Most Hygienic and Safe Tourism, essential to operate, according to that strategic sector of the economy.

Conditions for disinfection are guaranteed (chlorinated and alcoholic solutions, foot disinfection carpets, sinks and car wash basins), organizational measures to maintain physical distancing and avoid concentrations in common areas, and guidance signs are provided on the behaviors to be assumed for Health Care.

The hotels have 24-hour medical services, reinforced by graduates in Hygiene and Epidemiology, who ensure the check-up of clients and workers, and inspections in the areas to evaluate compliance with the protocols that prevent the contagion and spread of COVID-19.

Oscar Guevara, head of the Quality and Customer Service Department (CAC) of Playa Paraíso facility, belonging to the Gaviota Hotel Group, referred to the daily inquiries and the changing of workers' wardrobes when entering and leaving the entity.

In the à la carte restaurants, "he said," the use of reusable utensils was reduced, they comply with the measures of physical distancing and, through reservations, limit capacities; while, in the Buffet, the waiters serve hot and cold tables to avoid customer contact with food and tongs.

He emphasized that the training of workers and the responsibility assumed for their work favor an environment of sanitary security and position the hotel in better conditions to serve a greater number of clients as of November.

The Hotel Colonial, with a four-star category, belonging to the Cubanacán chain and intended for the isolation of Cuban travelers from abroad, concludes these functions in the first half of November to carry out a cleaning and disinfection process that will allow it to resume its normal operations.

Yanay Hernández Morgado, head of the CCS Department in the emblematic tourist facility, stressed that, without affecting current operations, maintenance work continues in three housing blocks, mainly in air conditioning and hydraulic and sanitary networks.

Before the beginning of the winter season, work is also being done to update the legal documentation that supports the reliability of the services (certificates, endorsements and the Quality Management System), in which the update of the sanitary license represents an advance, he added.

The training of workers is essential to comply with health protocols and guarantee their physical integrity and that of clients, most of them  from Russia and Canada, including repeaters, whose return is guaranteed by satisfaction with the benefits during previous visits.

Hernández Morgado underlined that the restoration of the access walkways to the beach is also being carried out for greater safety in the transfer to the bathing areas and the conservation of the coastal dune.

The Mintur Provincial Delegation reported that 25 accommodation facilities are currently open in the Jardines del Rey tourist destination, including hotels, holiday homes and houses.

According to a report from the Cuban News Agency (ACN), Iyolexis Correa Lorenzo, delegate of the sector in the territory of Ciego de Ávila, explained that at the beginning of the season the capacities available in the Muthu, Memories Flamenco, Playa Paraíso, Memories Caribe, Meliá Cayo Coco, Pulman Cayo Coco and Tryp Cayo Coco hotels will be used.

Depending on demand, with the arrival of a greater number of international flights starting in November, the Iberostar Daiquirí, Iberostar Mojito, Grand Muthu Rainbow, Iberostar Pilar, Kempinski and Swandor Palace hotels will open gradually.

Correa Lorenzo told ACN that the staggered opening of operations foresees an increase in excursions, initially to places far from the cities, but outside the cays, such as La Redonda lagoon, Florencia dam, Cunagua hill and Rancho Palma, among others.

On November 15, with the opening of the national borders, it is expected to receive around 38 weekly flights ―23 of which are already confirmed―, among which 19 from Canada, four from Russia, one from Mexico and Argentina joins. It represents about 800 seats, with which a growth of 50 percent will be achieved, in relation to current numbers, the leader said.

During the recent parliamentary visit to the province, it was confirmed that the Jardines del Rey International Airport has the human and material resources to guarantee security in the operations of entry and exit to the country, which represents a force to face the pandemic of COVID-19, criminal acts or other violations that may occur at the air border.

From this October 25, the seven facilities open to international tourism in the month of September, also receive vacationers from the domestic market.
