Based on principles such as political rationality, equity and social justice, the draft laws that will govern the operation of the Cuban judicial system will increase responsibility and bet on a more rigorous action by prosecutors.
The legislative proposals (Law of the Courts of Justice, Law of Criminal Procedure, Law of Administrative Process and Code of Processes) that will be presented in the Seventh Ordinary Period of Sessions, of the IX Legislature, of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), reinforce the performance of prosecutors as defenders of legality, in the interest of enforcing the duties and rights of citizens endorsed in the Constitution, the deputy Reina de la Caridad Torres Pérez underlined.
The deputies from Ciego de Ávila intervened in the debate after prior preparation, exchanges and clarification of doubts with specialists and academics.
During the dialogue, which contributes to the enrichment of these regulations, it was recognized that the modifications will have a positive impact on the safeguarding of the economic and social order of the country.
In line with the policies that are implemented to enhance local autonomy and bring services closer to the population, these law proposals aim to resolve most conflicts in municipalities, considering the benefits of proximity for the evidentiary activity and the shortening of the response times.
Based on the rigorous study of the draft laws, the prosecutors pointed out as positive the granting of greater power to control the investigative processes and the possibility that citizens can establish claims when they feel their rights are violated.
María Félix Arocha Hernández, prosecutor of the Department of Family Protection and Jurisdictional Affairs, insisted on increasing the activity of the Prosecutor's Office considering the intervention in labor and other conflicts that previously did not require her presence and activism. It responds to a popular demand and reinforces the figure of the prosecutor as a defender of constitutional rights and duties.
Arocha Hernández emphasized that the new scenario requires acting with skill, insight and responsibility so as not to cause harm to citizens. "The Constitution must become a daily manual that ensures compliance with the law."
Gretel Rodríguez Moya, vice provincial chief prosecutor, stressed that the modifications will imply a change in mentality and increased preparation; meanwhile, this should be considered as an opportunity for professional growth”.
These important documents were part of a broad consultation that included state organisms, universities and the population in general, as a reaffirmation of the democratic character of the Revolution when considering the opinions of the community, also it was exposed through the websites of the ANPP and the People's Supreme Court, and the enabled emails in this regard.
This Tuesday, through the videoconferencing system, the deputies receive information on the readjustments in the conceptualization of the Cuban economic and social model of socialist development, and the status of the implementation of the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution; through the exchange with Alejandro Gil Fernández, deputy prime minister and head of the Ministry of Economy and Planning.
