Incursiona Bioplanta de Ciego de Ávila en la reproducción de plantas medicinales

For the first time, the Ciego de Ávila Bioplant Center ventures into the reproduction of medicinal plants based on local development.

Stevia and Jamaica flower are the leaders of the project to obtain bioactive extracts with multiple positive health effects.

Lelurlys Napoles Borrero, Director of Scaling and Technology Transfer, explained that the new line is linked with local mini-industries and peasant producers.

Stevia will be used as a sugar-free natural sweetener, while Jamaica flower is sedative and diuretic, among other properties, including proteins, minerals and vitamins.
