The group of workers at Colonial Cayo Coco Hotel commemorated the 28th anniversary of this facility, founded by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, on November 12, 1993, and initiator of tourism development in the northern cays of the province of Ciego de Ávila.

Sanny Orosa de Varona, commercial deputy director of the entity, stressed that on this occasion founders and staff with more than five, ten, fifteen and twenty years of uninterrupted service will be recognized, as well as managers and outstanding workers in the prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic.

She explained that the emblematic facility provided services as an isolation center for Cuban travelers from abroad, from June 8 to November 9 of the current year, a stage in which it ensured accommodation for 17,183 travelers from Russia, Chile, Canada and Mexico.

As an incentive to undertake new tasks in favor of the progress of the leisure industry in the country, they evoked the words of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution in the founding act, who alluded that the Promised Land had been found and that beautiful installation was a prize to that effort.

Orosa de Varona recalled that the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Councils of State and Ministers, in that moment, declared: “If a worker has to do his best, it is the tourism worker who is dealing with people. People are the raw material of their work; they are not cutting canethey are not cutting down forests, they are not removing stone from a quarry, they are working with human beings, with visitors”.

She specified that this maxim has channeled, for almost three decades, the operations of a hotel characterized by comfort, high specialization in services and the good treatment of foreign and national visitors, managing to remain in the preference of a significant number of clients.

Focused on the reopening of their usual services for nationals and foreigners, scheduled for the month of January, the workers carry out disinfection processes and constant improvements in rooms, specialized restaurants, outdoor areas, fresh and salt water pools, access walkways to the beach and offices.

The Commercial Deputy Director of Colonial Cayo Coco Hotel emphasized that Russia, Canada and Cuba constitute the main source markets, but the arrival of tourists from other countries is expected as new contracts between the Hotel Firm Cubanacán - to which they are subordinate - and numerous travel agencies and tour operators.

Yanay Hernández Morgado, head of the Quality and Customer Service Department, specified that work is being done to update the legal documents that support the reliability of the services (certificates, endorsements and the Quality Management System), in which the renewal of the sanitary license represents an advance.

This November 11, the hotel facility hosted a fair with local suppliers that will intervene in the supply of food to the northern cays of Ciego de Ávila, with which the productive chains were strengthened to ensure the quality and variety of offers during the high tourist season, which will start in just three days.

Located in one of the most promising tourist destinations in the Caribbean area, the flagship installation of Jardines del Rey is inspired by the History of Cuba, with colonial motifs in the unique architecture of its buildings, cobbled streets and small squares that allow you to return in the time to a colonial-style past, the Cuban Encyclopedia highlights on the Net.

That digital platform describes it as having a charming village feel, with colorful courtyards and walkways leading to restaurants, recreation areas, and rooms.

At the entrance to the lobby, a headstone commemorates that, on November 12, 1993, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz officially inaugurated the five-star Guitart Cayo Coco facility, currently called Colonial Hotel.
