Inauguran Sala Museo  del Deporte en Ciego de Ávila

With the presence of Carlos Luis Garrido Pérez, first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in Ciego de Ávila, the Antonio “Ñico” García Sports Hall was officially inaugurated in the capital city of the province.

Leonardo Rodríguez, sport institution director in the territory, was in charge of the opening remarks of the event in which he highlighted the importance of this venue in the training of new generations of athletes.

Mirian García Hernández, daughter of the disappeared historian, received recognition from Julio Gómez Casanova, the highest political leader of the municipality, while Garrido Pérez presented a certificate to Alejandro Álvariño Iñigo for his outstanding research and dissemination of the history of sport in Ciego de Ávila .

In addition, Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, governor of the province, gave awards to the Cloroberto Echemendía Cooperative Industry and the Provincial Company of Insurance and Education Services for their work in the construction of the premises.

The daughter of the prominent Ciego de Ávila historian Ñico García cut the ribbon that opened the Sports Hall.
