Feria de artesanía cierra sus puertas en Ciego de Ávila

When the doors of the Ciego de Ávila version of the 2021 National Crafts Fair close this December 15, it will have been verified that the city needs a permanent fairground, which allows the creators of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC) interact with the existing public on this side of the stoneway, because we know that beyond the seas the links are expeditious.

The executives of the entity have also reached that conclusion, who took advantage of the appointment to carry out a kind of market study to interact with the client, what is the most demanded and how much income can be generated only with direct sales to the population. The results have been good.

Rogelio Antonio Portal Marrero, head of the FCBC Commercial Group, explained to Invasor that about 180,000.00 pesos have been collected, a figure that corresponds to what was planned. Regarding the offer, he pointed out that the productions coming out of the Ceramic Workshop have been the most attractive, in addition to show affordable prices.

“Another novelty is that we have approached forms of non-state management with the possibility of joining our catalog, for example, Bambú Fénix. This fair has motivated them and we are working on the essential legal aspects so that, perhaps in the first quarter of 2022, the links are effective. Around 15 self-employed workers are in the same situation”.

The constant influx during these 15 days to the José Inda Hernández culture house leaves no room for error, and if we could point out something, it would be that the offer has not been more varied according to the potential of the terroir, especially in relation to the furniture and textiles, although it is true that the space chosen did not allow much more.

We have already dedicated some pages to the pieces from the Ceramic Workshop. So we said that, among the hands of Luis Enrique Milan Boza, Jeosviel Abstengo Chaviano, Osiel Cordovés and Roberto Ávila, the Moldea project was born, where aesthetically beautiful and functional came together to show the most finished concepts and designs with loam or clay. designs. We are not wrong.

The entrepreneurship of these artists has taken that space out of inertia and revitalized its production chain, not without its ups and downs with raw materials and technological obsolescence. The fact that its cups, vases, ashtrays and decorative plates have "stolen the show" only confirms that this is a line that the FCBC must promote, in order to satisfy a growing demand in different places in the country, without forgetting the expectations of Ciego de Ávila citizens.

The National Crafts Fair continues to be a commercial and business option that in this territory must, first of all, achieve a better position. In the long run, 15 days is very little to show all our creative heritage; therefore, I close with the same exhortation: we need a permanent artisan fair that cheers and overflows the city.
