    Cuban deputies to debates in commissions this Sunday

    After two years without meeting in person due to the impact of the pandemic, this Sunday the permanent work commissions of the National Assembly of People's Power will do so to analyze the implementation of legislation or agreements related to their sectors or activities, including strategic programs of the country.


    As a prelude to the VIII Ordinary Period of Sessions of the supreme body of State power, in its IX Legislature, in all committees the deputies will know the estimates of the 2021 Economy Plan and the proposal for the one corresponding to 2022, as well as the project of the State Budget Law for the coming year.
    The projects of the laws of Territorial and Urban Ordinance and Land Management, of Military Courts and of Military Criminal Procedure, enriched on Saturday, will be reviewed by the Constitutional and Legal Affairs commission, the first in conjunction with that of Industry, Constructions and Energy, and the last two with that of National Defense and Internal Order, in order to draw up the respective opinions.
    Another highly debated project in the previous day, and which raised dozens of interventions and more than 20 versions in its drafting, that of the Family Code, will return today to the agenda of two commissions, that of Attention to Youth, Children and the Equal Rights of Women and Constitutional and Legal Matters, to be heard by the National Electoral Commission about the organization of the popular consultation of that document.
    In turn, the deputies of the former will evaluate the implementation of Presidential Decree 198/2021, referring to the Program for the Advancement of Women; while those of Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment will receive information from the ministries of Education, Higher Education, Culture and Science, Technology and Environment on the fulfillment of Law No. 128, “Of the national symbols of the Republic from Cuba".
    The behavior of the Postal Services and the situation of passenger transportation will be on the work agenda of the parliamentary commission for Attention to services, and in the Agrifood its members will exchange with the Minister of the Food Industry regarding the implementation of the Fisheries Law 129/2019, and with the holders of Agriculture and the AZCUBA Sugar Group.
    Laws 128/2019 on National Symbols and 109/2010 on Road Safety will be dealt with in the National Defense and Internal Order commission, and the call for Active Military Service and Female Voluntary Military Service will be known.
    In Economic Affairs, compliance with the State Budget Law and Law 113 on the tax system will be evaluated, and everything related to the estimates of the closure of the Cuban economy in 2021 and its projections for the coming year.
    For its part, in Industry, Construction and Energy, in addition to the preparación of the proposed opinion of the draft Law on Territorial and Urban Planning and Land Management, the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources will present the progress of the legislation on Water Terrestrial.
    The deputies of Attention to the local organs of People's Power will have an intense day, as they will analyze the process of rendering the account of the delegate to their electors, the control carried out in compliance with Law No. 132 on the Organization and operation of the Municipal Assemblies and the Popular Councils, and the agreement of the Council of State regarding the professional nature of the presidents of the permanent commissions to that instance.
    The status of the Maternal and Child Program in the year and perspectives, information on the Sports and Physical Education Project, and an update on the implementation of the Policy for the Improvement of Community Services, will be discussed in the Health and Sports committee.
