On Saturday afternoon and evening, the successful synchronization of the first bioelectric plant (BE) in Cuba with the Ciro Redondo sugar factory marks a milestone in Cuba in the "linking" between a power factory and an electricity generating plant with employment of marabou biomass and sugarcane bagasse.

Although the BE began to generate and deliver electricity to the National Electric System (SEN) since last Tuesday, specialists from both parties classified the interconnection as positive, based on the results that allowed the grinding and delivery of bagasse by the colossus and, in turn, the plant contributed the first megawatts to the factory, the most important actions programmed for this stage.
Carmen Taboada González, vice president of the joint venture Biopower SA, told Granma that the operation of the plant is part of the process of testing and commissioning of the bioelectric plant, which on this occasion worked with a single boiler, when the other was in the refractory drying phase, which must be ready before the next December 25th, the date of the start-up of the Ciro Redondo factory, which after the modernization process increased its grinding potential to 8,000 tons every 24 hours.
Taboada Hernández specified that it was also necessary to make some corrections in the steam superheaters and in the turbogenerator, which worked well in the test this Saturday.
Hours after the synchronization, Danilo Fernández Madrigal, director of the Agro-industrial Sugar Company in Ciro Redondo, confirmed that, as planned, it received power from the bioelectric plant, ground cane and tested all the systems, including the mills and, in turn , delivered bagasse to the new generating plant.
He explained that the cycle was not closed as it was not possible to exchange steam and condensed water between the two, a process that will occur when the harvest begins on December 25.
In January 2020, the bioelectric plant synchronized for the first time with the SEN, but left the system due to difficulties with the delivery of condensate by the factory, which led to the suspension of the supply of steam generated in the BE and saw the capacity in the water treatment plant limited.
