The manufactured nozzles, the result of the productive chain between various actors of the economy in Cuba

For the first time, filter nozzles for water purification plants are manufacturedin Cuba, after specialists in the hydraulic resources system concluded the rigorous inspection and testing process of the first 22,000 units created by the Ciego de Ávila company Ciegoplast.

The project is the result of the productive chain between different actors of the economy, in this case, state and non-state ones, by intervening, in addition to Ciegoplast, owner of the Know-how, the Company of Various Productions (Provari) and a Self-Employed Worker of the province of Sancti Spíritus.
The first units were subjected to inspection and examination by the designers and specialists of Aqueduct and the Camagüey Hydraulic Engineers Services Company (ESIHC), after being assembled in the Nuevitas Water Treatment Plant, with total acceptance after verifying the operation.
«… The nozzle meets design and quality expectations. The cup was strengthened, the thread is eliminated and it is attached, through electrowelding, to the body of the piece ”, a guarantee issued by the ESIHC to Ciegoplast at the beginning of February of this year reads.
The document itself states that «from the import of these parts for the Rehabilitation of the Camagüey Water Treatment Plant and due to their manufacturing characteristics, we asked the Ciegoplast Factory to analyze the possibility of making a prototype from the original Degremont nozzle, fulfilling the country's call to substitute imports based on local solutions”, a suggestion that was promptly answered.
According to Diego García Plasencia, director of the Commercial Management, Assurance and Sales Area of Ciegoplast, another 25,000 nozzles are in the manufacturing process that will be used in the rehabilitation of the water treatment plant in the city of Camagüey, which until now had used parts that were imported.
García Plasencia illustrated the low cost of production when comparing the price of imported items with those made in the factory located inCiegodeÁvila: «A similar piece in the international market is around $ 122 per unit, while ours are around 57 pesos and 37 cents, according to the cost sheet prepared in the company».
