Even in the midst of holidays, vaccination against COVID-19 does not stop in the province of Ciego de Ávila, as part of the effort to achieve immunization of the entire population and consolidate improvements in the epidemiological situation.

The actions are currently focused on the application of a single dose of Soberana Plus to some 7,613 minors between the ages of 2 and 18 who suffered from the disease.

José Luis López González, deputy director of Epidemiology at the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, explained to the Invasor digital site that more than 60 vaccination points were enabled, taking into account that the highest figures were presented in the municipalities of Ciego de Ávila, Morón, Chambas and Ciro Redondo.

He warned that those who are close to turn 60 days after discharge from COVID-19 should come to their offices to learn the steps to follow, while those allergic to Tiomersar must wait for the arrival of doses without that component.

At the same time, from December 22, the application of the booster immunogenic medication to the entire vaccinated population began three months in advance in the main municipality, regardless of whether the vaccine they received was Abdala or Soberana 02.

This process has already concluded in the municipality of Morón, the first in the territory where immunization began and will gradually spread to the rest of the territories.

At the end of November, 93 percent of the Ciego de Ávila population already has the complete vaccination scheme, which places the province in better conditions to start the year 2022.

However, local authorities and health specialists have reiterated the need to maintain individual protection through the use of the facemask and distancing, at a time when a new strain of the lethal SARS CoV-2 virus is already circulating.
