 Discreto incremento de casos de COVID-19 en Ciego de Ávila

A discreet increase in the number of people infected by COVID-19 in the last 14 days of December of this year puts Ciego de Ávila citizens on alert in the need to combat irresponsible behaviors that put all their residents at risk.

Dr. José Ramón Artigas, teaching epidemiologist at the Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology in the territory, asserted that the highest incidence rate in Ciego de Ávila corresponds to the municipality of Florencia followed by Chambas, while Ciro Redondo behaves above the rate provincial.

At the end of December 26, eight cases were reported, including three autochthonous cases, contacts of confirmed cases and five imported ones, four Canadian inhabitants and a Cuban person living in the United States.

There has been a slight increase in the reporting of imported cases during the stage, this indicator puts us on alert, for strict compliance with the protocols designed for travelers arriving at the northern cays of Jardines del Rey.

To date, 44 people have been admitted to Ciego de Ávila hospitals, 12 suspects and 32 confirmed cases, one of them in pediatric age, as well as nine confirmed discharges and health workers infected by the pandemic were not reported.
