A extremar la disciplina ante incremento de la COVID-19

To generate a climate in which institutional and individual discipline and responsibility multiply, the main authorities of Ciego de Ávila called this Thursday, in the effort to prevent at all costs that a new outbreak of COVID-19 impacts in this central province.

At a meeting of the Temporary Work Group, Carlos Luis Garrido Pérez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and its first secretary in the province, insisted on the relevance of “raising the perception of danger” that represents the tendency to increase the number of infected people in the last weeks, after the opening of national borders to international tourist activity.

With a scenario in which the paralysis of economic life as a source of wealth and well-being for the population will have no place - neither will the educational teaching process and cultural activities in a small format -, the strategy focuses on essential measures: continue with the vaccination in all its variants, take extreme action to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2, especially in the northern cays, and prohibit those activities that cause agglomeration in any area.

It transpired that the booster vaccination in the municipality of Ciego de Ávila only covers 55 percent of the planned universe, so that it is urgent to intensify the actions from the communities and through the actions of the Family Doctor and Nurse, to continue with this vital process on the morning of Friday 31 and from the third day of 2022.

Special emphasis was devoted to the importance of family and institutional celebrations at the end and beginning of the year being held without violating the established hygienic-sanitary protection measures, based on a responsible behavior that avoids setbacks in the anti-pandemic fight.

It was learned that as of January 5, the measures already approved will be reinforced throughout the country, and others will come into force, including maintaining the requirement to travelers from nations where the omicron variant circulates, to enter the national borders with records of the vaccination certificate with a complete schedule, in addition to carry out PCR. Extending the mandatory quarantine to eight days, with another PCR on the seventh day and, if the result is negative, on the eighth one they join the community.

In the case of travelers from the rest of the world, in the same way, it will be mandatory to present proof of the complete vaccination schedule, and the result of a negative PCR, at most 72 hours before the trip. Random surveillance will be increased with the performance of PCR on risk travelers at borders.

The travelers residing in Cuba who do not have the complete vaccination scheme, in the event of maintaining the intention to enter the country, a sample will be taken for PCR, in addition, mandatory quarantine will be applied for eight days in a hotel for this purpose, assuming the traveler the costs of accommodation and transportation. Another sample will also be taken on the seventh day and, if negative, you will be discharged the next.

Likewise, the sanitary control for crew members and passengers of vessels coming from a foreign port that intend to enter the country, will require the presentation of the complete vaccination scheme and a PCR study will be carried out at the point of entry, without the crew being able to get off until the results are not there. Aircraft crews staying less than 48 hours in the country, and cruise ships, will be exempt, but they must show proof of the complete vaccination scheme.

The passengers on cruise ships and pleasure boats, the presentation of the international certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 will be a mandatory condition.

Foreign travelers who arrive in the country and are part of the enrollment of international schools of Cuban institutions, or constitute foreign collaborators who are housed in Cuba will do, in their respective centers, a quarantine of eight days, and a PCR will be carried out on the seventh arrival day.
