The will of the American people to strengthen the ties of goodwill with Cubans was ratified by the religious organization Hope Refuges, by donating more than 200 wheelchairs to the province of Ciego de Ávila to improve the quality of life of disabled children.

When making the delivery to the Cuban Association of Limited Physical Motors (ACLIFIM), Mark Fernández, coordinator of that organization, said that this initiative originated during his first visit to Cuba in 2025, when he perceived the existing economic needs in the country.

Since then, they have joined forces and financial resources to offer assistance that first materialized in the western part of the country, in 2017, it now extends to the central area and, when conditions allow, will reach the eastern provinces, specifically Guantánamo.

Julia Esther Ferrás Santos, president of the ACLIFIM in Ciego de Ávila, thanked the help and urged us to continue building ties and bridges of love in this way.

Meanwhile, Noel Fernández, representative of the Church, suggested: "not looking at what divides us, but looking for what unites us."

The award ceremony in the territory of Ciego de Ávila took place at the Giraldo Córdova Cardín Sports Center, with the presence of authorities from the Communist Party, Government, the Council of Churches of Cuba, ACLIFIM, Public Health, the Red Cross and other entities.

This is the second donation of this nature made in Cuba by the Hope Refuges Association, in fraternal coordination with non-profit organizations, such as the so-called Mozatlan Mission, whose human and supportive contribution has reached many countries.
