Warnings against Dengue and its transmitter in Ciego de Ávila

Atentos en Ciego de Ávila frente al Dengue y a su transmisor

In order to prevent a Dengue epidemic in Ciego de Ávila, Public Health directors in this province adopt several strategies aimed at greater control of this arboviruses and increase the perception of risk in the population regarding the disease.

Strengthening the surveillance of suspected cases is one of the main actions that is already being carried out in the territory to diagnose, treat and isolate cases, a task that had deficiencies in 2021 as resources and other efforts were focused on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Domingo Molina Hernández, in charge of the Arboviruses Program in the province, said that in the year just concluded, in addition to Morón and Ciego de Ávila, other municipalities such as Ciro Redondo, Bolivia and Majagua finished with a high incidence rate of suspected cases.

The director assures that Majagua and Ciro Redondo stood out in the current month with the highest rates of possibility of foci of the transmitting mosquito, a factor that will undoubtedly influence the occurrence of new cases.

The reinforcement of Dengue surveillance and control actions, intersectoral work and promotion of the danger of the disease, are actions undertaken by Public Health officials and workers in Ciego de Ávila to avoid an epidemic in the territory this year.
